The two rollers turn and bend the material at the desired radius. This operation may cause lamination of the board. Minimizing thinning is one of the biggest challenges for flanging operators because there are very tight tolerances for the dish ends, especially when there is high pressure in the tank. Reducing sheet thinning means higher production profits for producers because they do not need to use thicker sheets to guarantee minimum thickness. To reduce lamination, it is important to have a machine with the correct geometry, sufficient rotational power, and good control of the flanging roll movement. Modern machines should be equipped with pressure controls to help the operator by preventing extrusion plates. Thanks to an efficient gap-control CNC, such machines allow even inexperienced operators to perform flanging with the least number of trips. A good flanging machine should also have a control device that always allows optimal contact between the roll and the sheet. This includes the ability to tilt flanging and shaping rollers. Electric and hydraulic devices are the difference between high quality and low quality flangers.
